MAC Industrial Services provides structural steel erection for new construction and capital projects, as well as repair and refurbishment of existing steel in operating facilities where degradation or damage has compromised structural integrity.
In the power generation and heavy industrial environment, the most demanding structural work occurs in the boiler structure, stack structure, cooling tower structure, and the platforms and access systems that maintenance crews depend on. MAC has direct experience with all of these applications — including the combination of restricted access, elevated work, and concurrent plant operations that make industrial structural work more complex than commercial construction.
MAC structural crews work from engineered drawings with the necessary qualifications for structural steel welding (AWS D1.1) and bolted connections (AISC 360). Where repairs involve existing code-designed structures, we work with engineers of record or provide structural engineering coordination to ensure that repairs restore structural capacity to the original design basis and satisfy applicable building and boiler codes.

Yes, subject to engineering analysis that confirms structural capacity during the repair sequence and appropriate hazard controls for hot work, elevated work, and operation of adjacent equipment. MAC works with the engineering team to develop a staged repair plan that maintains structural integrity throughout the repair process.
How does MAC assess the extent of corrosion damage in structural steel?
Assessment begins with visual inspection to identify areas of visible section loss, then progresses to thickness measurement using UT or mechanical measurement tools. For structural members, section loss is evaluated against design basis loads to determine whether repair or replacement is required. MAC can coordinate with structural engineers to perform formal fitness-for-service evaluations.
