Our boiler tube crews are experienced in all major boiler configurations — tangent waterwall panels, membrane waterwall, superheater and reheater pendant and platens, economizer tube bundles, and steam-cooled wall and roof systems. We work with carbon steel, low-alloy (T11, T22), and high-alloy (T91, T9, T22, Super 304H) tube materials, with appropriate preheat and PWHT applied per ASME Section I requirements for each material grade.

What causes boiler tube failures?

The most common failure mechanisms are fireside corrosion (sulfidation and oxidation), waterside corrosion (oxygen pitting, caustic attack, hydrogen damage), overheating (short-term and long-term creep), and erosion (fly ash impingement, sootblower erosion). MAC tube crews are trained to identify the failure mode at the repair site, which informs both the immediate repair approach and recommendations for preventing recurrence.

Does MAC hold an R-Stamp for boiler repairs?

MAC works under and coordinates with R-Stamp repair organizations as required by client and jurisdictional requirements. Our project teams ensure all repair documentation meets National Board Inspection Code requirements for post-repair inspection and documentation.

Can MAC access tube banks with limited clearance?

Yes. Boiler tube work routinely requires working in confined, hot, and height-restricted conditions. Our crews are qualified for permit-required confined space entry and equipped with the tooling — including pneumatic hammers, tube cutters, and flexible reamers — needed to work in tight boiler cavities.
